Re: Election Office Case No. PR-427-LU200-EOH

Gentlemen:

Terrence Parins, a member of Local Union 200, filed a pre-election protest pursuant to Article XIV, Section 2(b) of the Rules for the 1995-1996 IBT International Union Delegate and Officer Election (“Rules”) against fellow member Kenneth Stribling and the Tom Leedham “Rank and File Power” Slate.  Mr. Parins alleges that Mr. Stribling left a message on his telephone answering machine in which he threatened Mr. Parrins with physical harm if he failed to vote for Mr. Leedham.

On January 5, 1999, the Election Officer received a letter from Mr. Parins in which he expressed a desire to withdraw the protest.  The Election Officer, finding that the withdrawal effectuates the purpose of the Rules, permits the protest to be WITHDRAWN.

Any interested party not satisfied with this determination may request a hearing before the Election Appeals Master within one (1) day of receipt of this letter.  The parties are reminded that, absent extraordinary circumstances, no party may rely upon evidence that was not presented to the Office of the Election Officer in any such appeal.  Requests for a hearing shall be made in writing and shall be served on:
